Born on the 12th of February, in Bessemer, Alabama, US was a baby boy who later turns out to be one of America’s most influential rapper in the past decade. Gucci Mane’s father was a former US power plant worker and a serviceman. Ralph Everett Dudley, Gucci Mane’s father, was born on the 23rd of August 1955. However, Gucci Mane’s mother, Vicky Jean Davis, was born in 1955, and she was a teacher and social worker.

The Davis family had a military background that could not be overlooked. James Dudley Sr., Gucci Mane’s paternal grandfather, served for twelve years in the military and even served in World War II as a chef. And Walter Lee Davis, Gucci Mane’s maternal grandfather served in the military to at the USS South Dakota, and the Pacific during World War II. Ralph Everett Dudley, Gucci Mane’s father also served in the military as well. He was stationed at Korea for about two years.

Gucci Mane’s parents met in 1978. But before they got married, his mother already had a son from her previous relationship – Victor Davis.

Gucci Mane grew up in Bessemer, Alabama in the United States. Before Gucci Mane was born, his father was charged with possession and conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine. He eventually had to flee the police. When he fled, he went to Detroit, Michigan. And as such, he was not present when Gucci Mane’s birth certificate was signed. So, Gucci Mane took his mother last name.

Gucci Mane had a distant relationship with his father. His father even contributed to the distance relationship because he did not visit them at regular intervals. His father’s visit also stopped when he had two children with another woman. His family there became his priority.

While growing up, Gucci Mane spent most of his time with his paternal grandmother because his mother went to college to get a degree. In 1989, Gucci Mane mother had to move to Atlanta, due to a lot of family problems they were going through. As at this time Gucci Mane was nine years old. So, Gucci Mane’s mother thought of moving in with her boyfriend in Atlanta, but she later changed her mind. She then decided to move it with someone she met in church. They later got kicked out of the house, and they did not have a steady place to live. Gucci Mane’s father later set them up at Knights Inn. The area where Gucci Mane grew up, however, was a place high in crime.

Later, Gucci Mane and Victor were moved to East Atlanta. Gucci Mane then attended Cedar Grove Elementary School.
